Well I have Flex Builder setup to use the JRE 6 locally, and one thing that sadly still happens is, on especially large files (this .cfc has 2800 lines) the auto-complete is completely un-usable and typing is so slow as to be almost useless. I have taken to opening these files in notepad because eclipse or flex builder both handle them horribly. Anyone know if a tweak or fix for this yet?
Other than that (again this was pre-jre 6 also, I was just hoping it would fix it), the JRE 6 feels generally snappier. Java owns AWT (abstract widget toolkit) Eclipse owns SWT (standard widget toolkit) At the time, IBM was completely right to use SWT to build Eclipse, though now, with AWT making serious headway, it's arguable who has the best performance, and with constant improvements and obviously higher compatibility, AWT looks like a nicer option every time I look at it... not that I do enough Java to matter. -- nathan strutz http://www.dopefly.com/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Create robust enterprise, web RIAs.
