Taking a few minutes to process a batch compared to a few seconds in Perl is not fast enough, in my opinion. And those numbers balloon up if you're dealing with very large files of the type mentioned in the original post. Again, I'm not bashing CF by saying that it is slow overall, I think the contrary is definitely true. When you are talking about http requests, database operations, form processing, etc., CF is blazing fast. But when it comes to large text files, CF leaves a lot to be desired. -- My Sites: http://www.techfeed.net/blog/ http://www.cfquickdocs.com/ http://cfformprotect.riaforge.org/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Upgrade to Adobe ColdFusion MX7 The most significant release in over 10 years.
