I just wanted to throw in the following about hosts running CF7. They have absolutely no reason to disable cfobject fully.
One of the little known tidbits of CF7 is that it introduced type specific sandboxing. What I mean by this is that you can now enable cfobject (and therefore createObject) for use with any combination of: CFC/Web Service/Java/COM. So your host can now safely disable Java/COM and let you play with CFCs and Web Services.
