Ok, this is the second time this has happened on my CF8 dev machine now and
last time, I fixed the problem with a full re-install. This time, I'm
throwing it out to the universe (CF-Talk) for some help... Google et al are
not helping me at all!

Consuming Web services in CF 8 works just fine until one day, I see this
error:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/log4j/Layout

After this any request to cfinvoke returns this error:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class
coldfusion.xml.rpc.CFEmitter

If I restart CF, I get the log4j error once then I'm back to the second
error. Using CFEclipse to explore the web services from the same machine is
fine. CF just seems to gag somewhere and then from then on its hosed.

I spent 2 days trying to track down the problem last time before I
re-installed. This time I'd rather not have to do that and get a decent
answer so I can fix it when it happens again!

If I attempt to add the web service using the CF Admin area, the results are
identical. It's a multi-instance CF8 developer install on Windows Vista
running on Apache 2.

I've never seen this in CFMX 6.1 and 7 using the same web services either.
Any help, pointers and advice would indeed be very much appreciated.

Paul
