As far as software conflict is concerned I am aware of none. We've been running MX7 and Perl on a W2k box for 2 years running without issue (before that we had cf5 and perl). Perl is fine on Windows but noticeably better on *nix; at the end of the day it really depends on how much work they are each doing as far as load is concerned. Its questions like these I like to re-enforce the absolute need for a testing environment. Putting it on there and prove it works :)
