It is part of the return from the getTables method of the JDBC API: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/sql/DatabaseMetaData.html#getTables(java.lang.String,%20java.lang.String,%20java.lang.String,%20java.lang.String[]) If you feel the remarks field should be populated with some info that is available in the system catalogs of the database you should file an enhancement request with the manufacturer of your JDBC driver.
