Your first step should be to contact a certified Microsoft partner that deals heavily with AX in your client's vertical. They will know if there are any vertical modules that fit the bill, which should be your first step. If a module exists that will come anywhere near your client's core needs, use it.
If you're still itchy to write code, call the Microsoft managers who handle the Dynamics AX line for your region and run it by them, and they will give you an idea of what's involved to be in good graces with Microsoft (and their support agreement with your client). With all due respect to Cutter and his reply, you should *never* interact directly with the data store of any Dynamics product. We specialize in Dynamics GP, and I can tell you that you absolutely do not want to touch the DB with anything other than a module published by a certified Microsoft ISV whose AX products Microsoft endorses. [build vs. buy-question] Hi list, my customer has got a Microsoft Dynamics AX (Axapta) as their supply chain management system. As a front-end he would like to have a shop-system either build from ground up (with Java/PHP/ColdFusion) or s.th. like OS Commerce/mySQL (or ColdFusion-Shop ?) as a more or less standard shop system but with an interconnection interface (based on XML or CSV-Import/Export) to interact with the MS_SQL_2000 server of Axapta. Any ideas for this task ? Thanks !
