There are a bunch of vendors offering backup/recovery products like
that. I have direct experience with a service called LiveVault, which
I think is the same concept. I was skeptical at first, esp. when it
came to backing up live SQL Server databases with it, but I put the
product through a series of tests and was pleased with the results. It
solves the off-site backup problem, which is key in disaster recovery.
I cannot comment specifically about Double-Take as a vendor, although
I do know they are one of the leading vendors in that service area.
