I had the same thought. I suspect they would do something akin to cfform
where some of the underlying functionality can be modified. With cfform
for example you can copy the javascript library to your own directory
and modify it for use in your apps. Off the top of my head I'm not sure
how that would work specifically -- XSLT springs to mind, but at least
at first thought it doesnt seem like a perfect fit to me. Anyway -- the
basic concept would be that if the people who own the webservice change
the service in some important and non-backward compatible way, then you
would be able to update your app to use a new underlying engine and
probably someone would maintain a download area for the latest updates
to the default code. It doesn't seem like a very graceful notion to me
either -- doable, but I also don't see much advantage either.
