It's just harder since they are all separated into individual images... Harder isn't the right word I guess... just more work. The bots find an image, try to decipher what the letters/numbers are in the image, enter it in the field and give it a try. In this case, none of the images on the page hold the correct key, instead multiple images make up the key. So, since it really doesn't matter if they get it right, you can make the characters as clear as you want.
If/when they figure it out... (and if captchas still exist) I've thought about just ordering the images randomly and place them in the correct visual order with css. Again, I've never used this on my own forms, I usually just take the time to find out what invisible method works best for the individual form and implement it.
