Get your client to pay for it then. :) If they're going to be doing online sales, it should be pretty easy for them to front the $400 license fee as a cost of doing business. Whenever I'm working with a client and need outside components or software I just tell them what they will need (hosting, cart software, merchant account, etc.) and point them to the right places to go acquire all of those things and bring them back to me so I can do all of the setup and customization for them.
