It all depends on how you are using SQL Sever. Do you use SSIS? Do you use any SQL or T-SQL that is particular to SQL Server's dialect? I moved a bunch of apps to MySQL a few years ago and it was fairly painless. But then again they were very Plain Jane SQL wise. There are plenty of tools out there to ease that sort of migration.
