hello list friends,
i am trying to help a friend with this bewildering issue on his CF8 no
frameworks, plain vanilla cfml app running on 2k3 server:
in his application.log file _all_ error messages/details are missing -
lots of errors, but no info at all.
all he can see (when viewing the log in cf admin) is the error header
with date/time, severity ("error") and thread id.
and the Application Name field is blank as well... which i think
indicates it's runtime errors (i.e. cf tag syntax errors)?
has anyone encountered this before - no error details in
application.log? what would be the cause of this?
i thought it may be a result of some custom error logging, but he
assured me his app is not writing any logs at all...
there is no site-wide error handler or missing template handler (which i
thought may be other culprits) either.
no logging is done in onError() either, and no other error templates are
in use.
the app does use cftry/cfcatch extensively to trap errors, mostly with
just an empty cfcatch block.. would cf log a blank error message with
this? my quick test showed that no, but maybe in some cases it will?
thanks,
