Adrock (aka mr. Lehman!),
Here's my reply to a thread on LinkedIn on what I think of CF Builder and what
I think it misses:

CFBuilder Released
I see this morning that CFBuilder has been released but was slightly taken a
back by the price... $299!!! Are they having a laugh!!! I tried the beta's and
from what I could see it was a pretty poor product that we very buggy... even
if they have managed to iron out all the bugs (which I doubt), $299 is crazy...
so much for Adobe trying to encourage people away from PHP, ASP, etc... into
CF. It is this kind of craziness that keeps them away... I will be sticking
with Aptana Studio and the CFEclipse plugin.

Yup, agreed. Very disappointing price point and very short-sighted in terms of
trying to build the developer base (always a critical issue for any language).
CFEclipse works fine for me, there were some things I liked in CFB, but not
enough to pay that kind of price.

That's EUR 220,- ;-)
Come on, how much is that compared to any other IDE? Of course you can go with
CFEclipse and all the plugins (which are also available for CF Builder for
free), but the many features of ColdFusion Builder (shown to us by Ben Forta
himself in Amsterdam 2 weeks ago) make it a very good IDE. I think it's a shame
that many of the nice ACF features don't work well with Railo, but that is due
to the Adobe specific RDS-technology, which does much of the CF Builder magic.
Maybe sometime in the future Railo will be as easily pluggable as ACF is now in
CF Builder.
Me, I'm sticking to my beloved Homesite 5.5+ for now, as it serves me well. I
know, I know, I should jump on the Ecplise bandwagon, I just haven't found the
time to learn Eclipse enough to justify making the switch...

I do like Eclipse, but that's just it, CFB has to really bowl me over for me to
shell out $300 when I have something pretty darn good for free. I might try the
trial to see if the multitude of bugs have been fixed sufficiently enough for
me to even consider it (the last beta was darn near unusable for many of us)
but it's a hard sell for me at that price.
