I would also add that it is actually not possible to STOP the registry being used via CF. So if you have other sites on the server which you do not control they could also be causing you issues. In order to stop the registry being used you have to deny access to the registry key to EVERYONE. I have always used COOKIE as the default storage for years now and it has worked fine.
