For some reason I didn't think about this until now, but I'm relatively sure that there is a patch on the Flying Saucer site that made it work at least with Railo's built in iText version, perhaps CF's as well. I'm pretty sure that these jars: http://subversion.assembla.com/svn/cfmlprojects/trunk/src/cffspdf/lib/ Have that patch compiled in. Might want to give it a spin, see if it negates the need of the custom classloader.
