Steve, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise and Datacenter editions are the only 32-bit OS's that support more than 4 GB of RAM. However, you'll still be stuck with the limitations of the 32-bit JVM, which is about 1.5-1.8 GB of memory. So you'll still be wasting all the extra RAM. Only a 64-bit OS (Windows Server 2003 64-bit or Windows 2008) and a 64-bit JVM will allow you to utilize all of the 12GB of memory you have in your server.
