You could try to verify in your mailserver logfile if this problem occurs before sending (corrupt message) or after sending (problem during delete due to permissions / lock by virusscanner etc.). If this happens again in a few years, try to remember to make a tread dump of the CF server and see if any application is holding a lock on the file.
