Thanks for your help..
I tried using EM from another machine and it still won't connect. I looked through my
NT logs and nothing is jumping out at me. I installed mdac 2.6 sdk. Still no go. I
am now doing a total restore of my c:\ partition. After that whats left? Total
re-build???? I hope not........

Here are some things you might try.
First, try connecting to SQL Server through a copy of Enterprise Manager on
another machine.
Second, look at your NT event logs.
Third, try installing the latest version of MDAC.
