Perhaps Macromedia might take this example to heart and

1) get community feedback from a broad base before making changes like this
2) make sure that all the materials required to explain  policy are ready
when the announcement is made

And I think we should all remember that the best policy to to yell (politely
as Ben points out) loudly and often when changes like this get made
