datepart order is of course 1st (for programmers, people are usually
smart enough to figure it out whats what ;-) but delimiters are what
people are comfortable with, how they date their checks, etc. its not
really that important to people, just better to provide something familiar.
the solution is trivial, the knowledgebase isn't.

well its significant in Buddhist countries where its 2544 BE or
2545 BE depending on which Buddhist country (some start
numbering at 0 BE, thailand, etc. while others, burma, etc.,
started at 1 BE). try doing date calculations based on that ;-)
