from my personal experience: - number of domain names isn't an issue - I'm using ULTRADNS for the DNS instead of the DNS my datacenter provides due to the infrastructure and the fact that I can make changes in real time (and their site is CF/Fusebox!) - if you're in a major metropolitan area, go with the best local datacenter you can - make sure they allow you 24/7 physical access to the box - your software requirements mandate Windows 2000 - stats - code your own! let IIS do the logging and write your own log file parser - don't be cheap - I've learned this the hard way. Go with the best memory, hard drive, and redundancy options you can - patch, patch, patch! when you install Windows, leave the network cable unplugged. Then turn off the IIS service. Plug in the cable, and start hitting TechNet. Only turn IIS on after you installed all patches. Also, make sure you can set aside at least 10-30 minutes per week for patching - otherwise you'll get hit by the next CodeRed/Nimda, when a little diligence would have saved you.
