First job out of high school they had me work with FrontPage 98 and IIS. What was
really funny is that they wanted me to do ASP with these tools and they made it so
that the only way that you could get to the sites on the IIS server was through
FrontPage and they used Front Page extensions. STUPID!!! It was the sorriest thing
that I ever worked on. For one thing FrontPage 98 was never designed to really handle
ASP code and the way that it handled my ASP code was to eat it. I didn't immediately
get my hands on a real editor so I used Notepad to code everything. Then to make
matters worst, my boss kept on viewing my work with FrontPage 98 and it would eat my
code and then he would complain that something that I just got working didn't work.
FrontPage 2000 was a little better about
not eating code, but it is definitely not what you would want to use for ASP
development. They also had chronic problems with the IIS server getting all hosed up.
 They tried reloading the server,
getting a fresh new server, reloaded with the latest updates until they hit Win2k and
FP2000, not allowing anything else to be loaded on the server even if the task you
where working on absolutely required it and the server still chronically hoses itself
up. I'm glad that I develop under CF now and I didn't hesitate one moment to switch
over.

Subject: "Why aren't there more CF programmers out there?"

A higher up said "If ColdFusion was so easy to learn why aren't there more
CF programmers out there?"

So what do I tell him?

How many CF Developers are there?
How many sites use CF?

Is there a Macromedia rep in the house?

He thinks FrontPage is the way to go....

Let the games begin!
