I'm currently learning Java and I'm very excited to see Macromedia moving in the Java direction. However, one of my co-workers stated that Java byte code was very slow. Since I'm just learning Java, I didn't have a good retort for him at the moment. So, I'm turning to you for some answers here. Is this true? In my limited work with Java, I haven't seen it to be slow. But then again, I don't expect a little "Hello World" app to be slow.
Any suggestions or places that I can find some answers?
