I am just starting learning ColdFusion 5 using Ben Forta's Web Application Construction Kit. I'm stumped already.
My problem is the following: I am using the Record View Wizard (pg 115). I select the server (loalhost) and get the message taht authentication failed. I added the file to the ODBC data source successfully. Clickedn the verify button to the right of the name and message states connection is OK. What am I doing wrong? The computer is very new. Everything else seems to be working so far. I went through the exercises before this section and encountered no problems I am runing Windows 2000 and IIS. The computer is a 1.4 GHz Athlon XP, with 512 MG RAM and 20 GB Drive "C". I am using less than 5 GB of disk space. I have no unusual programs on the computer It is a stand alone computer that I am now wanting to use just for learning web technologies. I installed IIS, than CF server and last CF Studio. I did not encounter any problems. My default browser is I.E. I did check that and it works in the off line mode. This problem is pre browser. Someone suggested that my IIS setup might be the problem. I will check this out. I have put the cfm pages in inetpub/wwwroot and placed the database in inetpub/wwwroot/data as requested in the book.
