So if I have a user who logs into their mailbox from my mail app and
they close their browser or an error occurs requiring the browser to be
closed,
And they go back to log in again, pop lock? Any best practices on how to
best prevent them from occurring?

Dave

The mail server does the locking. Usually, a mail server allows a
mailbox to be open only once (one login). So, if you POP into a
box and don't disconnect then the next connection will usually receive a
mailbox locked error.
