I don't think it's the Flash. I think it's the Java Server Pages. I've yet to go to ANY site that uses jsp that isn't slower than doggy doo. Everything on MM's site loads quickly for me until I hit a page with a .jsp extension. Then I'm typically sitting for anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple minutes waiting for each page, when they load at all.
