Well what really surprises me is the fact that they did not simply test
everything on a production server and get it going and working great and
then migrate it over to their normal servers. Can you imagine the amount
of $$ that is lost by MM taking their e-commerce down for this?
The site itself is not that large, It has been my experience that
when re-developing/re-branding a site, it is customary to follow a type
of "scheme" that ensures the site is maintained while changes are being
made. it's apparent it wasn't used in this situation. I realize
time-to-market is important, and I can agree with that. What I do not
understand is the comment that while most of our site works, the areas
that are most accessed and used are not. If this would have been done
correctly, I dont believe that the site would have had to be down for
more than a couple of hours at most.
