Well, actually, it does mean that, to some degree. (At least, that's my argument - you're free to accept or reject it.) Again, in my experience, I've never seen any significant difference in these small things, compared to the differences in performance that can come from reexamining the application architecture to remove work done unnecessarily at runtime, or tuning the server environment as a whole. If you've really, really gone through all of those items, then the difference in performance that you'll get by tweaking CFOUTPUT vs CFLOOP, or CFSET vs CFSCRIPT, or any of these other types of things will be truly insignificant. It's important to remember that there are no perfect applications, and any time you spend on one thing is time that you could spend on another. Code tweaks of this nature don't make a significant difference, and you can't rely on their behavior in future versions (or previous versions for that matter).
