Remember, free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it. I'm 100% certain of that. Here's my take on the above: The first option is false. I know that you can add processors without reinstalling the OS. I haven't done it myself, but I know that our clients haven't been reinstalling their OSs when they add a processor. The third option was true for Windows NT - you needed to use the UpToMP program to get any use out of the newly-added processor. A parallel install wasn't necessary, though. In addition, Compaq (and probably most other serious Intel server vendors) provided nice tools to handle this stuff very easily on their SmartStart CDs. My guess is that the second option is true. There's no UpToMP program in the Win2K Server Resource Kit, and Windows 2000 generally is easier to upgrade than Windows NT was. A better bet for you would be to search sites like http://www.win2000mag.com/ and see what they have to say there.
