We have used CFGrid on one of our sites which is running CF 4.5.2. I like
it, but it does have a few issues. It takes longer to load the pages with
the grid (and tree) than other pages. We've also had reports of the grid
and tree applets never appearing at all. Also, we were considering
upgrading the server to CF 5.0, but that will break the current grid and
tree code. Well, not the code, but the user experience - the user would now
be forced to load and run the Java 2 runtime, which is a step they don't
have to do right now.

To get around these issues, we will likely replace the grid with some
dynamic HTML (basically a simple table list within a DIV with scrolling
turned on). As for the tree, we'll either come up with a dynamic HTML
system of some sort, or implement another java tree control applet that we
have access to that is more stable and offers less impact on the user
experience.

My two cents worth.

Subject: CFGRID - Good alternatives?

Anyone have any bad or good experiences with CFGRID?

We use CFGRID with with CF 4.5.1 and are upgrading to CF 5.0 - heard there
may be some compatibility issues.

Any good replacements for CFGRID ?

Thanks.
