I downloaded Sitespring trial and it looked like it could help facilitate
this pretty good from what I saw.  It had all kind of bells & whistles,
problem was that it was pretty hardware intensive (least, that's what my
boss cringed about)..

an 'in between' area to help facilitate the questions to the project
manager who would relay it to the client.  The client had their own areas
and the project manager could setup a little forum for them as well to
continue discussions on, etc.

If you didn't care about the developer being able to talk directly to the
client, they could if you gave them the appropriate permission in which
they could answer questions, etc.

Personally, I would have liked to have been able to use this internally,
but between the cost and the hardware, the company I work for just wasn't
up for it (and, they're lame and if anyone has any job openings in a cool
company (hint hint Dave Watts!) let me know. :) )
