Without regard to the licensing issues, once you reach this point why
bother? It's just as easy to find a substitute and use that instead.
Besides, why should I have to fix something I bought?

Well, on Windows, I'd have probably gone with a COM solution. There are
plenty of quality commercial HTTPS client implementations, I'm sure; the
Mabry one works quite well, in my experience.
