My point was that unless LinkSys has come a long ways with it's products, I
don't think they support ACL's, but only basic filtering.  

Yes, basic filtering and routing can be considered a firewall
implementation, but it is rarely considered the best choice.  Of course,
this all depends on one's needs and resources - if that's all you can
afford, then perhaps it IS the best solution.

However, if one wanted to implement a full blown firewall system, then
filtering and routing would be one of perhaps 20 steps in the solution.

My thoughts....

???? firewalling is a collection of policies implemented variously, and 
packet filtering routers and router ACL's are clearly, and truly, within 
that definition.
