Thats 400 cf content templates replacing 50,000 static web pages. There are
another 200 CF tempates as well.
Coldfusion has been our salvation. It really is great. The SQL 7 database
sitting behind it has 370 tables, another 400 GIS data tables to add later
this year.

I'm teaching myself as I go. I'm looking for ways to make this website (with
200 applications accessable to members) managable. At the Macromedia MX
launch in Christchurch today, I became convinced to add fusebox 2 by talking
to Matthew Walker (contributor to CFTalk).

It sounds as if you don't need a database-driven site. I see no reason
to 'build' 400 separate / independent pages just to store the data in a
database.
If lots of the data is similar, and you only have to build 10 or 20
templates, that might be a different story.
Are these 400 pages of data unique? Are they related in some way that
would give you benefits of using a database?
