As far as i'm aware this is not possible.
Every time you make a call from the client you basically instantiate a new instance of the service and set its handlers.
Unless the you are making a call that returns a huge amount of data i dont think a percentage loader is necessary. Most of the time you should be able to get away with some sort of "busy" or "loading" animation.
Although if you manage to make a break through in this area i would be very interested to find out.
