After a month of trying to get VSpider to run on SUSE Linux I have run out of patience (and time) and need to find a workng alternative quickly. I need some advice on how to set up a Lucene-based search function that will index pdf and word documents in the same way that VSpider does (when it F*%&#ing works!). If anyone has any experience I would really appreciate hearing about how you went about it and what tools you used. And if anyone with solid experience in this is available to consult ($), that would be even better. I really need to get it running by Monday.
