Mark, At the moment I use json and JS arrays in my code, but I am was reading some java ajax frameworks and they seem to return the object to JS as a java object, so my thinking is that if I did <cfreturn this /> would it be accepted as a java object?
The reason I am asking is that, I could loop over the properties to populate the elements that are required, I realise that DWR has this but was curious as an exercise if this could be achievable with CF instead of java?
