There is also a really good Firefox Extension called LiveHTTPHeaders (http://livehttpheaders.mozdev.org/) which is invaluable for diagnosing all sorts of issues like this, it gives you a live view of all HTTP headers, both sent and received.
Perhaps look for any differences in the headers between your production server and dev server.
