It NEEDS to be server based, not application specific and I believe that
mappings are to folders, not files.

What I want to do it this....

Have a file like "global-coldfusion-file.cfm" that and customer on my server
can access without there actually being a file in their hosting space and
they do not have to set anything up....

If you are using Application.cfc you should be able to use that set up
application-specific mappings. It works very nicely.
