That function is one of the set for ini files, the get/setProfileString() pair have been about since version 4 or even earlier (I'd have to go to the museum to check older versions :-) )
GetProfileSections() was added at Version 6, CFMX, as a whole bunch of had complained about that missing function and they didn't add it to CF5 as that was mainly a platform shift rather than new functionality. AFAIK it just a CF function.
We have a standard function in our utilities bag that grabs an entire ini file and returns it as a structure, very useful. Happy to share if you want it.
