ouch... let me (try to) explain.
our
environment is a novell network (NDS), users are running windowsME on
their notebooks and email is via exchange using active directory
(AD).
users
were complaining that it was too hard to change their passwords for NDS and AD
and it could not be done unless logged in to the network.
i
created a com object that is executed via a CF change password template to
change a users NDS and AD passwords simultaneously, and therefore synchronise
their NDS and AD passwords. it works famously... but.... the trouble is that it
does not (cannot) change their local Windows password (that is synchronised with
NDS password at login to the network), so the next time they login to the
network they need to enter their new password to authenticate to NDS, but then
the windows login appears because the local windows password has not
synchronised. the other problem was that outlook client uses the local windows
username/password for authentication, so when a user had used my password
changer via the web, then tried to open outlook client, they were prompted with
a login box (that required their "old" password). very
confusing.
what i
proposed to do was delete the *.pwl file from the users c:\windows folder at the
time they changed their NDS/AD password so that these problems could be
avoided.
just
asking. please, no smart-arse replies necessary.
