Hmmmm - I've only tested this on Windows but when I did I ran a check on
some big number of listfirst(createUUID,'-')s and they were all unique. Many
we're fairly similar, which is what made me check, but they were ALL
different. The best info I have on what makes a UUID is at
http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9629399/apdxa.htm, but I can only
understand bits of it :)

Anyway you are right - I'm making assumptions that I probably shouldn't as I
haven't fully checked it out. The one time we did use this it worked quite
well, except some users got mixed up with 1 & l & I and 8 & B and 0 & O and
4 & A.
