oh that reminds me - I meant to point out that since i started using linux there's eben an amazing amount of work done on various managers and interfaces, both linux and windows based. For instance you can get some great windows based managers for postgresql as well as mysql, and as steve points out phpmyadmin is briliant, and has a counterpart for postgresql. Not to mention webmin, which you really should check out if you're going to be running a linux machine.
