MX doesant use the registry for its datasources anymore

you can create DSN's as a registry thing, CFREGISTRY or Factory Services would probably be a go.
 
I've got a custom tag around somewhere from cf 4.5 I think that looped over *.mdb files in a directory and created DSN's on the fly. I'll see if I  can find it if your interested

I guess if you have control over the CF admin, you could switch off the login for the adminitrator and do a post to the dsn script of the administrator
