Hi Mark,

I'm glad you've found my suggestion useful. We only recently discovered it
and have already used it to set up a couple of identical servers. Lynchy
and I figure that the reason why passwords need to be reset on datasources
is because CFMX generates a random encryption key when it installs and it
uses that to encrypt all passwords (this is only a theory). We haven't
found a workaround for this although I wonder what would happen if you just
wrote all passwords into neo_query.xml in plaintext. Maybe they would get
encrypted by CFMX automatically...

Can I ask how did you get your CF5 settings into the XML files? Did you
upgrade on Linux then copied the XML files onto Win2k?

Cheers,
Vik

Just letting you know I ran through this process and it seemed to work
fine,
with one exception. Initially none of the data sources would verify, I went
in and re-entered the passwords. This fixed all of them except the one that
handled the client variable storage.

I played around with this data source for a bit and eventually just deleted
the DSN and recreated it, which solved the problem.

One other thing that's pretty obvious - you will have problems with the
verity imported verity collection entries, until you actually recreate the
verity collections on the new box :)

So thanks heaps Vik - saved me a stack of time & effort. Apart from the
above *all* my cfadmin settings came across nicely.

Cheers

Mark
