Hi Gary,
I wouldn't go to the expense of upgrading Crystal
unless you can get version 8 running.
The only reason I have found to upgrade past 8 is
to be able to produce Crystal Reports as PDF's.
Don't go to 8.5 - it has a 5 concurrent user
limit.
Version 9 Advanced may be
affordable (about $3K), but Crystal 9 enterprise will cost you two
arms and a leg.
ASP samples for version 8 are at
Phil.

Subject: [cfaussie] Re: Crystal Reports
and security - no answer - but further questions
Hello Phil,
Is it just "Crystal 8" that is the
problem - should we be using a different version?
Also - where would I find the ASP samples?
However, we dont use ASP on our servers -
so that really is not an option - but I was considering hacking the ASP/JS/VB
code and calling it from Cold Fusion (have had some success with this in the
past - even though the CFMX COM support is "touchy" at times).
In my case, the ODBC connection I am
using in the Crystal report development tool is EXACTLY the same ODBC
connection I am trying to test it on (both Crytsal development and CFMX - Dev
Version - are running on my desktop box).
Maybe I am just not calling the CFREPORT tag properly.
I find it unreasonable that MM would
release the system in such an obviously unworkable configuration, so am
prepare to accept it is my fault in some way (either how I am calling it, how
I am creating the report, or how I have configured things). There is
just not much out there in the way of complete examples.
