Just plain english chars... im not trying to get it working with other
languages/characters.

Whatever the default is. I'm guessing its UTF-8 on CFMX.

The forum is hidden behind a members area... if it comes to it, i'll send you a
login off list.

To re-cap, the forum was working perfectly on CF5. The ONLY thing that has
changed was an install of CFMX over the top. No code changes, no DSN changes, no
config changes of any kind. The weird part is, im still getting the correct
string in/out of the db, only its got those double byte chars prepended :(
