I agree with Barry on the right tool for the job, it's just that RIA development is becoming even easier at the moment, and so it will the best option for internet-deployed applications in a lot of cases. I don't think it's been hyped anywhere near as much as XML.
I think that Brian and Barry make a good point, that a good way to become more employable in the internet industry would be to combine CF with Flash or Java, or preferably both (quite a few on cfaussie fit this description). I see a growth in the need for these combinations of skills occuring rapidly over the next year. I'd also echo a rant I gave on cfaussie a while back that business, consulting, requirements gathering skills and other non-tecnical qualifications are just as important to securing employment as technical skills, with the added security of knowing you had the skills to go into business for yourself if you needed to.
