I wonder if there it's better to do this in code? 

I'd hate to spend hours trying to track down this prob on a shared host, esp
when you can't get to the CFIDE to check the settings...

When using an Access db, in the advanced settings for when setting up a DSN,
there is an option "Return TimeStamp as String ".

Uncheck that, and Bobs your thingy ...
It seems to be checked by default.
